Some Body Image Questions for Ladies

Fat doesn't equal ugly at all.
The two are NOT mutually exclusive.

Sorry if I offended you but you have to realize that your perceptions of yourself are very skewed. Good self-esteem shows when person can list positive qualities about themselves when they are asked "what is your body image?" I saw insecurity in responses that said, "Oh well, I know I am not that pretty but I am fine with that. I've settled with that." Using words to describe yourself like "dull" and "average"? It pains me to see this attitude in my fellow young women. How can other people celebrate you and your unique beauty when you, yourself, can not even find it?

no no no, fat does not equal ugly at all. i was just giving an example of how not everyone looks the same and there's no reason to convince yourself otherwise. just to accept the truth. plus, some people are just OBESE and there's no reason to hide behind the veil of "oh, i'm rubenesque".

gosh, i did not mean to sound accusatory! :(

Just because I don't think I'm drop-dead-gawges-no-matter-what-they-say does not mean I'm full of self-hate. In fact, I think people like that are not realistic.

Not everyone is in a Christina Aguilera song. Just because I didn't list all of my good qualities, that doesn't mean I think I'm horrid-looking.

ok just dropping some knowledge on ya sista, maybe you'll understand more as you grow up

I will look hot again when I have lost the 28 kgs I gained over a very short time x-x. But I am cute and look very young as I have a baby face and kittyish attitude.

what country r u from Tsubie-chan, ur using terms like "kg" and "cute" which is not common in the States lol

Haha, "cute" is not uncommon but kg is.

hemingwayisdead, I get what you are saying now but you just didn't at all explain it before so it sounded like it was related to the sentence before it.

I don't know what I think about what whatisinaname is saying but I'm definitely not offended by it. It is kind of idealistic to say that everyone has beauty in them but it's true to a certain extent. The values of beauty always differ.

This is kind of different, but I was just thinking that girls tend to dress to impress other girls. By that I mean, I know I pay more attention to if I've worn a certain outfit before or if something matches perfectly when I know there are going to be other girls somewhere. Girls pay attention to that type of thing more than guys do. (I think, I'm not positive though)

ur right mandi, girls tend to nitpick and when they get bored of doing it to themselves they do it to other girls. And that's where high school drama comes in. That's why you have to have a strong, positive sense of self because then you'll have a shield against all that

I'm fat. But I have a cute face.
I'd be really pretty if I lost 40 pounds.

i don't think i'm ugly, but i'm definitely not gorgeous (despite what my parents tell me). i really hate my nose... it's too long.
