Some helpful transfer information ~

Hi everyone, I'm currently waiting to see if UCSC will accept me for transfer enrollment this year. I've done a lot of research about chances of gaining acceptance and I've learned a lot about what UCSC will be doing this year. Based on what UCSC reps, deans, and counselors have told me, I thought some of you might find this information helpful. (If you'd like names of resources I can provide them.)

UCSC is not accepting Summer school units prior to transferring. You MUST complete the IGETC and 60 units requirement by Spring 2010. This rule is new, just beginning this year, and they have made it pretty clear that they won't even consider you if you have Summer classes listed. (I know, it sucks a lot.)

Because they have received so many applicants for the Fall, they might 'unofficially' decline students who have below a 2.8. (According to a speech on Youtube from the Dean of Admissions)

Over 90% of transfer students admitted last year were from a California community college. (UC official website)

Last year's acceptance rate: 67% - 68%

The acceptance rate will probably be around the same percentage this year, maybe a little lower.

This year's number of applicants: Over 8,000

Number of students who were approved for UCSC TAG this year: 1,842

Students who have at least a 2.8, all of their IGETC and 60 transferable units completed by Spring 2010 will have a very good chance at getting accepted. However, UCSC will be turning down some students who qualify simply because there is not enough room. So cross your fingers!

I hope this helps some of you, especially those who are eager to know a little more about their chances. Good luck.
