SOME NOTES ABOUT POSTING IN THIS FORUM. PLEASE READ

According to CC rules, posts must be about yourself or your children. Posting for a “friend” is not allowed and those posts will be removed.

There has been quite a bit of chat here about scholarships and awards to students from specific schools. Those always produce mixed feelings- some like them while others feel bad or don’t understand what their student did “wrong” to have received “only X amount” while another was awarded “Z amount of dollars”.
For now, I’m going to let the thread continue, with the following caveat: Remember that there is no way to verify the posted information and while we don’t know why, some people will inflate numbers or just not be truthful. Over the years, we’ve seen some strange things so please take it all with a grain of salt.

@“Mezzo’sMama” That was me, i’m very sorry. I have notified my friend that she needs to create a profile and ask her own question. I hope she does!
I posted a different question purely related to my own child’s situation on the merit money thread. Thanks for all of your hard work!!

@Music2023 - No problem! It’s happed with others before so I wanted to put a general post just to make it clear, I’m hoping that your friend will join us!

Great post MezzosMama and I totally agree. Lots of misinformation and lack of clarification as well between actual merit money and FA need based grant money as well. Two very different things!

And I think it is nice to be mindful of everyone’s feelings: when posting about successes

I despise the new CC format.

Same.

It is horrible. I’m probably done with CC now.

I don’t like it at all and having to use the search feature just to find forums is horrible.

I feel like a fool for telling a friend with a music major junior to use this site as a great, easily accessible resource to find schools, determine the best scholarships and navigate our very difficult, stressful process. It was perfect the day before I recommended it and a f**king mess the day afterward.

She won’t be able to find this forum or navigate the other helpful forums on CC. It’s an unusable mess. It was just fine the way it was, now it’s broken.

I’ve tried to send multiple complaints about the site redesign and none of them were accepted by CC. I’m done.

in case anyone wants to know this, there have been NUMEROUS complaints about the new format and look. Here is a link to the administrators’ reply. Within that posting there is a link where you can see a summary of the complaints. Sounds like they are planning on improving things; there were so many complaints, they are no longer accepting more complaints, which would explain why you can’t contact them about this.

I happened upon this post when giving the link to this section to a parent elsewhere.

I hope you folks have learned to navigate the new format. I do agree it has its shortcomings, but I have to say, many things have been changed since the update was done at the request of members.

I don’t frequent this music majors forum much anymore, but I have one kid who is a professional freelance musician, and a second who almost did a minor but just didn’t have time (but did play oboe in her college orchestra and take lessons all four years).

This forum was a lot of help, particularly for our kid who didn’t want to major in the instrument…her first college oboe teacher was actually a CC member!

CC’s new format must be the worst decision since changing the Coke formula. Horrible!!

It is still hard to find the major forums.

If one compares activity from. years past to this year, there are way fewer music majors or people can’t find the forum. I think it is the latter…

It is tough to find and I still haven’t found a lot of information on music production/ technology. There are previous posts that link to other threads but they are closed for comments.

@MusicMomSC I sent you a private message with info, and since I PM’ed you, you can respond
