Some premed questions I need answered ASAP

I'm down to a couple days left before I have to decide what school to go to, so:

-Specifically, how is pre-med advising at Berkeley?
I know there's no pre-med committee, so who does your cover letter for your med school app?
-Does the career center hold rec letters for you and send them out to the places you want?
-What else does the career center do? Who can students go to for premed advising?
-(for current students)Do you or any of your friends actually have research positions or internships?
-How does one go about getting one at UCSF/do you know anyone who's doing this? Can freshman do research?
-Is it difficult for freshman to get to do research? What about internships and/or clinical experience?
-What effect do weeder courses such as Math 1B, the chemistry series, intro bio, OChem, and others have on your GPA?
-What role do premed student organizations play/are they helpful?
-And if I were to contact the career center about premed stuff, who should I contact?
