I guess it couldn't hurt to apply. But keep in mind RSI doesn't increase your chance of admission much. You have <15% chance.

Definately still apply, especially if you've already paid the fee. You have 0% chance of getting in if you don't apply, and even the worst application ever has > 0% chance of getting in.

Out of curiousity, would you mind posting your stats? Or linking to somewhere where you already did?

ASDF is kidding, you know. Only one rickoid has ever been rejected from MIT.

r u kidding me? only ONE RSI person got rejected. Really for Zogoto MIT is really a safety for u. Obviously u knew and didn't apply early.

PhoenixRSI,

That's not true. One person was deferred early last year, and that means they were probably rejected. And a TA'05 was also rejected (RSI '03).

My stats are at:

umm, wow zogoto. looking at those stats again...how the hell did you get in?!?! rsi must not be very competitive. there are so many more people better qualified than you.

:( :( :( i know

Anyone else? I want the bare truth.

Please note asdf's number of posts.

excuse me PhoenixRSI, i'm quite experienced with this and know what I'm talking about.

fyi, i've been lurking on CC for almost two years now. i had to start posting to make sure people don't think RSI helps you get into MIT.

The number of deferred people at MIT getting in regular is significantly higher than at other colleges because they don't accept as many people early on purpose. 5 pple last year from my school got deferred then accepted (i know that's anecdotal, but it makes sense).

PhoenixRSI,
Do you live in MA?

RSI accepts top science pple (with a slight few exceptions) who thus would've already been qualified to be accepted into MIT. Anyways zogoto your stats were generally better than mine.

Good job Vin, you now know who I am. Just your friendly nobody here!

I really hope that asdf! was just sarcastic a bit

i mean, those stats are really above avarage
RSI, Siemens, ISEF, USAMTS=>they all show your passion for scientific research AND strong knowledge of math/science, which qualifies for everything MIT wants to see from an applicant.
Im not sure wether you already applied or not, but if you didnt, definitely apply, and i'm sure you have a very decent chance in getting in

btw, did you think of applying to CalTech?

I don't know about caltech actually. If I get into my early school, then I might think about it, but if deferred, yes, I will be doing caltech. Everyone smokes pot there though. Like seriously, everybody.

Yeah I hope asdf! was sarcastic too.

everyone smokes pot at caltech? LOL! That's the funniest thing i've ever heard.

lol is it that hard to believe? MIT has a lot of alcohol flowing around. They just had an alcohol-related death last week... MIT is a little better though since not everyone turns out a complete weirdo after they go there.

zogoto, I don't know what's up with asdf, but those stats are, in fact, very strong. If you don't get, no way in hell am I getting in.
