I received a perfect score on my Math 2, Physics, and Lit. SATs, but a 630 in Chem...

Do you tink this will affect my chances?

Misterlotus,

There's more to life than test scores. MIT will look at the big picture when they review apps, because they really are interested in building a class. That means everything will matter: your grades, ECs, etc. Perhaps your essay is the most important part, because that's how they get to know who you are.

That said, your test scores are superb. It's like what I had on my SAT subjects, but I still got deferred from Chicago EA.

Misterlotus: I agree with molliebatmit. THey will only ask you to list your highest Math and Science scores. So they will ignore your Chem score. (It isn't that bad!!)

Thanks for the counsel.
I mean, I'm not saying this is my life or anything.
I wonder, do colleges take the best 3 scores or something?

No, MIT only considers an applicant's highest math score and science score. Your literature and chemistry scores will not be considered for MIT.

ignore this post ... 10 hcar

I think ab2013 is lost...

So MIT doesn't care at all about non-Math/Science SAT IIs?

One Math and one Science score only, indeed

Only 2 SAT II's science and math. And best of luck.

I got 800 Math II, 780 Physics and 530 Chem. It's no problem, trust me.

My scores are: Math I 710, Math II 780, Chem 740. Will MIT consider only Math II and Chem?

Yes. They will only consider your top math score and your top science score.

Now that I've found where I am (Cider),

The only thing that MIT will ask for is a Math SAT Subject and a Science SAT Subject. So most people choose to put their highest scores down in their app.

Baolong26_12, Most colleges prefer looking at the Math II test. Since you also scored higher on the Level 2 test, you should be putting that score on your app, and that is the only score the committee will look at.

Just to correct some misapprehensions, MIT will actually only look at your highest math and science scores, regardless of what you write on the application, since they will get your official SAT score report. The highest math and science scores on the score report are all that are considered; writing scores on the application helps them save some time, but they will still look at the score report.

MIT also does not have a preference for the math level 1 or the math level 2 test. Both tests are considered on equal footing.

Q. Which SAT Subject Tests should I take?

A. We do not have a preference. You should take the tests for which you're best prepared and best suited. If you have taken more than one test in a category, we will use the test which makes you look best.
