some questions concerning pre-med at cornell

is cornell engineering good for "pre-med"? are the other schools within cornell better for "pre-med"
do alot of cornell engineering students get into med school? what do they usually major in? how does cornell engineering compare with columbia seas for "pre-med"?

bumpp bumpp

My guess is that it would be uncommon for engineering students to end up going to med school, it seems like a different focus (perhaps biomedical engineering or something like that). My guess is that most of the med students come from Arts and Sciences, CALS, and Human Ecology

any other comments?

No school at Cornell is better than the other in terms of pre-med preparation. All pre-med students take the same basic coursework. Besides those basic requirements, med schools don’t give much care to what you studied in college.

The Eng school (like CAS, CALS and HumEc) has its own pre-med advisor. So, I assume a decent number of Eng students go to medical school. If you are concerned about this, I suggest you contact the Eng advising office. I’m sure they would be happy to assist you.

ohh thanks  what do people usually major in?

Why engineering? Personally, engineering is way too much work for anyone who isn’t going to use it the future.

what would you recommend majoring instead?

Study whatever interests you!

i have friends who use engineering as a backup in case they dont get into medical school, cause i guess they are soemwhat intersted in engineer too. others say the school trains them to think
