1) I am applying to 6 schools, two of which require the CSS Profile (Harvard and Yale). When exactly is this document due? Feb. 1?

2) How are my parents supposed to file the FAFSA for these schools' Feb. Financial Aid deadline if they won't recieve their tax returns until the very end of January '06?

These questions are stressing me out to no end! Can someone please explain for me? I have a migraine.

PROFILE must be filed by the date school requires
however
you can use last years tax info ( 2004) to extrapolate your figures for 2005
FAFSA can be corrected after updated figures are received so colleges will have correct info
the deadlines are very important
guess if you have to as long as you have documents that will enable you to correct info later

The only exact income information required on the Profile will be from the 2004 income tax returns.

Get your parent's end of the year pay-stubs. This will have the income information that you need to estimate their taxes for 2005. The easiest way to run an estimate is to figure what % your parent's income increased from 2004 to 2005, then jack up the tax return information by that same %. You'll be close enough until you have the real numbers later.

the deadline of the college i am attending next year is Feb 15...does this mean that they start looking at the FAFSA AFTER that date? or do they still do first come, first serve?

This means they will gather together all of the COMPLETED files at that time and begin distributing money. You do not want to go past this date. Make sure you have all the paperwork completed and filed before their priority date.
