Hey guess, newbie here. I want to give Math II on upcoming SAT date Jun 7, I have some queries to ask :

I haven't given any SAT, not the subject test neither the SAT Reasoning would it affect if I only want to give Math 2 right now ?
(reason : I think I would require more time to prep for the CR and Writing part of SAT I so I am hoping to give it in September)

Also people take 2-3 subject tests on same date. I want to know does it matter if suppose I take 2 test on same day vs 1 test on that day and other (say chemistry) later on ?
By matter I obviously mean, in the evaluation process when those people decide if you're worthy of admission in their college or not.

Any other tips for first timer ? I'd be very glad to know your advice/views.

Makes no difference ( You can’t give SAT Reasoning and Subject tests on the same day)

Depends on you ( If you can handle 2 or 3 subjects at a time, then it is not a problem)
No impact on the evaluation process.
Saves money if you take 2 or 3 together .

Take atleast a few TIMED practice tests ( both Chem and Math 2) . Do read the recommended books,as there are a few additional topics when compared to 11th grade CBSE.

I second everything the above poster said. In addition to that, go to the sat forum and read the sticky threads. Al of the threads.
Do direct his both volumes. And practice CR as much as you can. Don’t give the subject tests in 11th grade (I did and got less than perfect scores over which I still curse myself). For writing section, Erica Meltzer’s grammar book is the best.
Source: personal experience. I have 2360 on Sat 1 and 800 Math 2, 780 chemistry, 770 physics. All three taken on same day

I remember spending close to 100$ on subject tests. A little North of that actually.
This international surcharge is the thing that sucks a lot of money.

Okay guise, I registered for the 7th june and well… I got more problems…
First of all, I am still unsure of the photo I’ve used for the admit card if someone is generous enough I can PM him/her a snip to get an approve of it (of course it’ll be an experience thing, I know nobody here is from the collegeboard) .

Second one is quite a bit tedious, I do NOT have a passport ;w; I have the indian ID ‘Aadhar Card’ though.
I did not had the slightest idea about it until I registered and took time out to read the instructions. So am I screwed ? Should I rush and get a Tatkal PP ?

By the way for anyone looking to get an approximate cost of the subject test it took me about 4650 INR for one subject.

Ah I wish I had known about the PP thing before. Going in for a tatkal.

Anyways in all this PP and stuff I don’t want to bother my parents for another 10,000 for a graphing calculator. Though I can get a TI 36x pro it has a lot of features like matrix/equation solver, x/y table form for graph- except for actual graphing sighs
Will it do ?

The Calculator will come in handy later in College as well. My D bought it in Class11 for IB HL Math. And she is still using it college 5 years on.

Come on! You don’t need any advance calculator! Just a basic calculator would do. If you’re a CBSE or IB student and doing good in your classes, you don’t even need a calculator. If you still wish to, go with a basic calculator that can calculate inverse and logarithms.
I got an 800 w/o calculator in math level 2. And in college, you can always use wolframaplha.

I know that a calculator would come really handy, but seeing all the hassle I am making for my dad since Tatkal PP needs some kind of approval and stuff I don’t want to bother him much.
I am doing the Barron’s with use of using a normal calculator I am just scared of some of the weird maxima/minima questions or graph question which really forces you to use a graphing calc.

And lol @BetterThanBest aren’t you just like your username

@aki17x: Thanks! In which class are you? Have you done the NCERT? If you’ve done, Math-II is a super easy paper. If you’re in class 11th, I advise you not to take Math-II unless you’ve completed 12th grade’s math too. Yup @hezekiel is right. If you really want a calc, go for a scientific one, not graphic.

Well yea I can differentiate, hezekiel is right, though the other people with graphing calculator would have an advantage but what can I say, we Indians always walk through the tougher path haha. Anyways I have attended 12th boards this May. Honestly weren’t my best but whatever, whats done is done better get a 800 in this test.

Ah guys a really bad and serious problem has occurred. On my 10th and 12th marksheet my father’s name is without middle name and on all of his other documents he has his middle name. Now I have two ways either I can make passport with his middle name in it or without. But since on my official board marksheets he would not has his middle name, would it cause me problems while applying in college ? (of course it would… what should I be expecting ?)

Guise… my tatkal passport is not possible. I’ll have to make a normal one, guess I should now transfer the SAT date to October and take SAT Maths 2 and Physics exam on same date. Then take SAT Reasoning in Noevember.

Damn… its kind of depressing, the Passport officers here are not at all helpful. Anyways is this the right decision I am making or should I take the Reasoning exam first ?
After more than a week of Passport ■■■■ I am just too scared to make a decision at once and myself…

Edit : PS- I want to apply for college this year, so that I can join in 2015.
