Some serious questions about gap year

Background: I was in special education in 9th 10th grade then with a lot of self-motivation I went to Honors classes and enriched. I go to a very competitive school, probably the best in the new york state other than fieldston. So like speical ed is like regular classes elsewhere. Anyways, I also had to repeat a grade (my choice) to do this.

Now my college guidance counselor said I was looking at school like (reach) University of Rochester and University of Miami (medium) Which is amazing but not what I want. I want big, NYU, University of Michigan. Now this is my plan. But before you say this is impossible you must know I have DONE the impossible.

Plan during gap year.

I am taking 11 courses right now which is crazy. I am taking honors and enriched calsses at my high school. I also am taking 5 AP classes through keystone national high school. (very hard much harder for some reason than my high school.)

After I finish this by sometime in early june I Plan to attend cornell summer program for undergraduates where I can take 10 credits.

Then after that is done I have two choices:

1) do more AP courses through Keystone National High School

2) or take classes at NYU continuing education non credit.

3) or should I do a little bit of both. I am also going to do voulntering.

Also I plan to take my act this June (senior) and get around 30's

Everyone says including an admission counselor at U-Wash said that is probably the best Idea. But do you think she is lying? Also how do colleges see Key Stone National high school. They had some really good acceptance rate.

Thanke!

Since I am an over achiever going to a community college then transferring is a bad idea for me. I would probably perpously fail (this is my personality I can not help it.)

Congratulations on making it this far :)

By the way, what sort of classes fall under "continuing education?"

Well how do colleges view me taking NYU continuing education during my gap year. Also would have taken 10 credits at Cornell. Will this be worth it. I mean something in my heart is telling me just to do it. I guess i am becoming doubtful. I think the reason is because I lack leadership skills, but I am changing that in the coming months. I plan to take on acting roles.

Normally I think gap years are a horrible idea for people just planning to "take a break." But since you want to continue your education I think it's a fine idea; I don't see how the colleges can penalize you for it. Cornell is a great school, assuming you are earning the credits for free or at a reduced price that will save you TONS of money in the long run. And it's cool that you're doing new things like acting too. I say go for it!

yea something in my gut is telling me to do this. But my passion is in acting, even if it wont be my future major it will help with my inconsistent confidence and will help with my goal to be a leader.
