Some things I didn't like in Harry Potter 7 *SPOILER ALERT*
oh, and did it explain about dumbledore's letters to petunia and what he meant by "remember my last." i had thought that would be explained....
I think that was explained in Snape's memories. Petunia had written to Dumbledore when she was a little girl wanting to go to Hogwarts like her sister, Lily.

But "his last" implies the last letter he wrote, so I took it to mean that the letter that came with Harry to the Dursleys explaining his mother's charm and how safe they would be if they kicked him out. Or maybe you're right.

I still can't wrap my mind around the time of 19 years later. So Harry and Ginny are sending their 2nd kid off to Hogwarts, meaning he's 11. Older brother James has already been there a couple of years, so make him at least 13. So Harry and Ginny waited 6 years to have their 1st kid. Got all that. So how can Teddy Lupin be there as well? Oh never mind. I just read it again. He was snogging Victoire (probably Bill and Fleur's) and seeing her off to Hogwarts. I'm just going to have to reread the whole book again.

Mayeb he was sending off his girlfriend, Victoire, so he went to visit her in the train.

Yeah, like it says in the book, he was seeing her off. Never said he was actually on the train.

I don't think enough [major] people died, to be honest. JK made it seem like only a few of the main characters would make it out alive, but the book ended a little too happily for my taste.

And where the ---- did the DURSLEYS (lol oops) go?

The Dudleys? I know he's big and all.....

I do wonder who got the reprieve, though.

so basically harry was able to come back because AK killed voldemort's soul? I didn't understand that part...

yeah, AK killed voldemort's part of harry, but left the rest of harry's soul intact.

Harry couldn't be killed because his blood was in Voldemort's veins, making him essentially invincible unless Voldemort died.

Think of it like this.

Before the "The Forest Again" chapter...

Harry has: 1) his own soul, and 2) part of Voldemort's soul

Voldemort has: 3) A piece of his own soul, 4) Harry's blood, and 5) a piece of his soul stuck in Nagini.

When Voldy casts AK, he destroys 2) but can't destroy Harry because 4) is still present within him. When 5) is gone by Gryffindor's sword, Voldemort has only 3) and 4). Avada Kedavra does away with 3) and 4), leaving Harry victorious, since no part of Voldemort was left in Harry.

I thought it was interesting that Hagrid during the Battle of Hogwarts is a mere 68 years old, and by the Epilogue, he is 87. It's hard to imagine that he's so old, especially when he's so much like an overgrown teenager!

Maybe giants have a longer lifespan, so that's why he doesn't seem to be aging.

i dont get how hermione did the memory charm on her parents and then for some reason didnt know how to do it later on in the book? did anyone else notice this? or do i need to reread?

^maybe there's a difference between altering somebody's memories (what she did to her parents) and wiping what recently happened from somebody's memory.
that's a really good point, though.

It must be kind of tought to write being JK. I mean, there aren't many authors that, only a day after their book is released, have everything searched over and mistakes pointed out.

yeah, i think i would go insane if i had to plan everything out as carefully as she has to.

Ron whined too much and became Gollum. Hermione wouldn't stop fricken crying. i thought it was amusing when the middle of the book essentially become LOTR. Albus/Gandalf: "The Horcrux must be destroyed!"

Secondly, I hate how Harry has always been right throughout this whole series and Ron and Hermoine never believe him. In the 6th book, Harry knew Malfoy and Snape were up to no good and Hermoine and Ron thought he was overreacting. Maybe if that had acted earlier (helped Harry discover what Malfoy was doing in the Room of Requirement) Dumbledore would still be alive. And then in the 7th book, Harry tells Hermoine and Ron that one of the horcruxes it at Hogwarts, they don't believe him. He tells them that the Hallows do exist and that they are the key, they don't believe him once again. If I was Harry, I would be yelling "I TOLD YOU SO" at the top of my lungs...

Dumbledore did NOT want to be alive, he WANTED to die because the curst that marvolo's ring put on him would kill him slowly.

Meteorain: Haha, I agree with you on the LOTR comment. I couldn't help but imagine Harry turn into Elijah Wood every time he put the locket around his neck.

so, did voldemort accidentally and unknowingly make harry into a horcrux? and all the other things (diary, ring, locket, diadem, snake, cup) were also horcruxes?

yes. there wer 7 horcruxes (one more than he wanted)
