I'm not sure how it happened....but someone hacked their way on to my UCI myadmissions portal and decided to decline my SIR. I immediately emailed my to-be UCI counselor to explain the mistake, but her response was not a very convincing one. She seemed like she was accusing me of accidentally declining my SIR myself, but then changing my mind afterwards. She also said that because of this setback, I'll be wait listed, and there's a chance that I won't be accepted as a student. My financial aid for UCI is also void. Any suggestions of what I should do?

Did you by chance post your acceptance screenshot on social media somewhere (FB, Twitter, Tumblr, etc.)? Another poster earlier today said that someone declined her UCLA acceptance and UCLA called her to confirm and said it happens alot. Someone takes the information from your acceptance and can access your account.

That is terrible that UCI would react this way. Read the link below and call UCI back and if this happened to you, let them know ASAP.

This is too important an issue to be e-mailing back and forth. You need to call immediately and talk to an admissions officer. Explain that it appears your account has been hacked and that you absolutely did not decline. Tell them that UCI is your first choice and that you will take whatever steps are necessary to reinstate. You also need to find out what you need to do to secure your sign-in.

I just called and got in contact with the office. I was referred directly to my counselor, and she apologized, saying that a few hours before I had emailed her, she had received a few emails regarding some distressing situations that were all made up by a student, which caused her to not take me seriously. We have cleared it up, thank god! Thank you for all the advice everyone (=
