Someone please help me...

I am currently a senior in high school with a not so bad but not so good transcript. My grading scale is difficult however, with a 94+ being an A, a 90-93 being a B+, an 80-83 being a C+, etc. My gpa for freshman sophomore and junior year is 2.86. My SAT was ok however, scoring a 1760 out of 2400. I am currently enrolled in 2 AP courses this year (AP Government and AP Statistics) and am struggling in both now. I have a C in both courses right now during second quarter. My other classes are fairly decent at the moment, but I am having a tough time budgeting my study time spent between all my classes with the courseload that these 2 APs present. I had a D and a C+ in them in my first quarter, and I'm not exactly improving in either one as mentioned before. I want to switch out of them both after the first semester, but I think colleges look down upon that a LOT. But at the same time, I would just be staying in the class with terrible grades, rather than taking a regular course and probably getting a B or B+. My parents have told me that they have "thrown in the towel" and do not think I will be accepted by any of the colleges I applied to (Christopher Newport University, George Mason University, Radford University, Ohio University(not OSU), Virginia Commonwealth University, and Frostburg). I am worried that with a 2.8 GPA and a 1760 SAT, they might be right. I am a very average student, and among the other students in my class, they are all ridiculously smart getting 3.8s and 2100+ SATs. Is my chance at getting into any of the above colleges lost? Or are my parents being overly dramatic and all of this extra stress that I have is unnecessary?

To whoever takes the time to hear me out, I really appreciate it. I am having a really tough time right now and could really use some support. Thanks again.

I understand where you're coming from. However, you should have understood that when you decided on entering an AP course that it would be >AP< and COLLEGE LEVEL. I think you should step your game up, get extra help and really focus on working towards getting you're grade up. Also, ask for extra credit and get on good terms with your teachers, since a little favoritism works to your advantage. I'm sure if you could get a 1760 SAT, then you're not incapable of working harder and transcending obstacles in your way. And as well as working towards your grade, you must also try to absorb the lessons as much as you can since the real understanding is reflected not by the grade on your report, but on how well you do on the exam.
I'm a junior in high school right now. How is AP stats? I'm considering taking that next year.

It all depends on your teacher. Mine is very subjective, and if improper vocabulary is used you lose all credit in your response.

Is anyone in the same situation as me, or at least has been before?

apply to ASU!!!
