Underachieving Senior here.

Hey. Unlike most around here, I'm not the best student around. Reason being a lot of stress in other things that I don't feel comfortable mentioning, and just a general lack of motivation. All throughout my high school career I recieved C's, D's, and some B's/A's depending on the course.

My GPA is usually around 2.2+. Bad, I know.

The thing is, my Senior year is next year, and I decided that I really need to just buckle down and ignore all my other problems if I want to get into a good school. I don't want something like Yale or Princeton, just a good quality school like Penn State maybe.

I was only wondering, even though my grades have been bad and my SATs have been decent, if it was possible for me to get into a good school if I were to really apply myself in the senior year. I was thinking about taking an AP class or two, and really working hard to get straight A's. I know I can definitely do it from experience (a little bit of studying gets me an A on a test), and I'm wondering if that will give me a chance to get into a good school.

Please tell me if I have a chance to turn everything around in my Senior year.

Sorry but your only option at this point is community college.

Attend it for a year or two and then matriculate to a T100 school.

Hmm alright. I can live with that.

The odds are against you, but you never know…

If you’re open to out of state schools there are plentyyyy that would consiter you with even a slight GPA raise. (2.5-2.7 range?) What are your SAT’s like? And things you’ve been involved in in high school? Also depends on what you’d like to do.

On the East Coast, schools like Old Dominion University in Virginia, Radford University in Virginia, Coastal Carolina in South Carolina, Towson in Maryland, and West Virginia University. As well as Arizona State, University of Oregon, University of Kansas. They all have pretty high acceptance rates and with some kickass reccomendations as well as essays and personal statements, you could have a shot!
