My Stats:
Junior in High School
GPA:3.6-3.7/4
SAT: ~1900
Class Rank: Unknown, but most likely somewhere in the top 40%
Attend a private catholic school in New York
Somewhere East of the Mississippi River would be ideal, size of the school doesnt matter
Looking for a place with a solid undergraduate engineering program
Leadership: Attending New York Boys State this summer, in 4 clubs, some community service. Had a job since sophomore year.
Already looking at Villanova U, Boston U, and Vanderbilt U
Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Also for my GPA, my unweighted average for my junior year is 92.1 but the 3 year would round it out to a 90 flat, i dont know how colleges translate that but still.

We have very very similar stats. I was accepted to BU this year, so you’re most likely good on that front. It’s a very solid match. It might be different for engineering, though…I got into CGS after applying to CAS (which I really believe was the result of my telling them I was mostly looking at smaller schools and mentioning very diverse academic interests). But that’s not the point. I mostly applied to schools that didn’t have engineering majors…but I hear GWU’s program is pretty good…it might be worth checking out. Maybe also check out Syracuse?

^GW doesn’t have a good engineering program but is trying to build one up and they are basically giving tons of $$ to anyone who applies for the engineering program.

And if you’ve been in Catholic school I wouldn’t really recommend Syracuse, might be a bit of a culture shock.

Purdue, NC State, Virginia Tech and Clemson are the best choices here. I’m going to Clemson next year for engineering so that’s my personal preference.
