I wanna study international relations in wes but when I check the website it said IR was "certification"not "major"what is the difference?

a certificate is sort of like a minor, but wesleyan doesn’t have minors, and it only really exists for subjects that don’t have majors of their own (meaning certificates are interdisciplinary). if you’ve taken classes that fit into certain categories you can qualify for a certificate.

most people interested in IR major in gov and concentrate in international politics, because the classes you would take (in addition to what you would take to fulfill the IR certificate) would be in the same vain as what an IR major would be.

the IR certificate requirements: http://www.wesleyan.edu/pac/CIER.html
