Sometimes I wonder.....

If people have any idea what they're talking about on these forums. I've been just looking through some chance me threads of schools like BC NYU and others in the range. The OPs post all there stats just to be crushed by these quick replays that may have no clue. You may think I'm ranting cause you think I was "crushed" but this is like my first post . Anyway I see OPs with like 2000's and like 28 29 30 acts and the posters are just like no chance 2100 only bye. It can't be just that. Last year I knew 8 people who got into BC RD 3.8 s+ as many OPs have all with below 2000 SATs. Three were in high 1800s and got in both NYU and BC and the rest were 1900-1950. If it's so rare what are the odds I personally knew eight people who got in. Also, no they did cure diabetes or cancer all in all pretty regular. Also I don't see how you guys say 2000s and up are musts for NYU for when I visited there last year the freaking admissions director told the audience how a we'll rounded student is so much better than a high sat/act score. Also, the fact that NYU allows 3 AP scores or 3 Subject scores in lieu of acts and SATs should show that there definitely not too test focused. I guess I'm just writing this because I see too many times ops that are saddened when a keyboard warrior says no sorry try your community college. And another thing people on this site are way too test driven. Guess that can be expected on this site as it's mainly full of top 10 students in there class. I'm in Cornell now (31.... Must have been deciding factor right?). Also just a tip cause I was there many of these chance replies are kids like you applying to the school who want to make themselves feel better by saying at least their own score is needed. (Coping technique). Well that's about it. /rant

Excuse spelling… Wrote this on a bus on my phone xD.

it’s not about your spelling; it’s about your grammar

It’s a rant,deal with it.

Speaking in a more logical way, the average SAT for NYU last year was 2030. Therefore, it makes perfect sense to me if someone says you need a 2000+ to get into NYU, since the competition just gets worse each year. Although you know people with 1900 and even 1800 who got in NYU, the sample is too small to make any conclusion; in other words, your friends’ stats does not mean anything. Your friends might have had other edges that you didn’t know such as legacies. Finally, most people here would be better off if they can get brutally honest opinions from replies instead of sweet bombs that might block them from seeing what they are really lacking:)
