Does anyone know if tuition increases each year, or if they guarantee tuition at the same rate as Freshman year, for 4 years? (Like CU-Boulder does with “CU Promise”. Since they are both CO state schools, I thought CO-Mines would offer this also, but can’t find this information.
My friend’s son got in as well and it is interesting to see that so many have the same issue with the lack of FA. They will have three in college and were given minimal aid when compared to other similar schools that he applied to. I feel for all that are in the same position as I had heard as well that they were more generous then what reality is for these kids.
My D has declined her admission. Even with 12K in Merit, it was one of her two most expensive options.
CU and CSM have different governing boarads (as does Colorado State), so don’t expect the same policies to be in place at different schools even though they are all public schools.
The Colorado schools don’t give a lot of merit or need based financial aid. Colorado has a program to give $75/credit to instate students to supplement tuition. Colorado also has a fairly low income rate and a low property tax rate (which is also limited by law from increasing) so the state doesn’t support the schools in the way other states do.
The money just isn’t there to give large FA awards.
Declining admission. Main factor was the scholarship amount. In-state.
