I really want to pursue a career in health science. Right now, I'm seriously considering nursing or pre-medicine...hopefully specializing in pediatrics. I'm hoping to apply in the next week or so. Which would you advise that I specify on my application? Is there any difference in being accepted as a nursing major or with a pre-med concentration? (I'm not really asking for the nurse vs. pediatrician debate). Thanks!

I guess a better question would be, which would be more difficult...

Specifying a nursing major, then changing major (biology/premed concentration) or, specifying a bio major/premed concentration and then changing to a nursing major.

It's by far more difficult to transfer into nursing. And you can be pre-med no matter what.

Thanks for your help! I really appreciate it.

I'm not sure if the nursing courses taken in the nursing school would count for premed though. You might need an extra semester or two to get in the requirements, depending on how long you take to change your mind.

But I agree with Pat. It is much harder to get into nursing so apply there if you are possible interested.
