<p>Hello everyone :) I am a current junior who wants to be a musical theatre major...because I'm obviously amazing :D lol (joking) but, I was wondering if these are good song's for a Baritone Singer or if they're "overdone" or too "mature" or whatever?!</p>

<p>Albert in Birdie is 28-37, El Gallo in Fantasticks is 30-50, and Billy Flynn in Chicago is 35-50. So, you may want to reconsider “Talk to Me…,” “Try to Remember,” and “All I Care About.” They are songs from characters who have clearly “been around the block” and sing from a mature perspective.</p>
<p>Many people recommend staying away from ALW altogether, not sure why.</p>
<p>Aww I have to do more search! Haha…so All That’s Known is good right? From what I read the guy who sing that song is a high school student</p>

<p>Currently, a lot of schools have Spring Awakening on their do not do list. That could change by the time you audition.</p>
<p>I think there are 6-7 schools just on my son’s list that are doing Spring Awakening this year! Even when you’re auditioning next year, that may be too soon to use a song from SA at those schools…but I’m sure others will chime in on this issue ;). My S’s audition monologues include one from a play that was produced at one of his schools last year, and he will use a substitute monologue when he auditions there.</p>
<p>I think it is a good idea to pick a song (similar to monologues) that you know, and know its place in the musical it comes from, if you are saying that you are picking songs for college auditions. You never know if they might ask you a question about the character, or the story. And of course, you’ll also have a better understanding as to how to sing the song!</p>
<p>What about. “If I can’t love her” from Beauty and the Beast? </p>

<p>Spring Awakening is definitely becoming far overdone. Beauty and the Beast is a great choice if it fits your type!</p>
