I rarely cry anymore, due to my “happy pills.” Watching that, I may have made it 10 seconds in before I lost it.

The Joni Mitchell clips pack an emotional punch if only because of what she has been through to come back to this performance, but seeing Wynona Judd behind her crying throughout just accelerates the tears. I kept feeling that she must have had all the emotions related to her mother wrapped around everything else that was happening in this performance.

Our two daughters were at Newport Folk this weekend–they’ve been attending for over a decade with friends from college. They were treated to Paul Simon on Saturday and Joni Mitchell on Sunday! WOW.
Last year the surprise performer was Dolly Parton. They lost their minds and didn’t think that could be topped this year. But it was!
