i've been reading on here and some kids have ridiculous extra curriculars, which basically makes me feel like i won't get into college. i'm a good student at a competitive high school, probably in the top 10 if not 15%, but compared to some kids on here it seems like i do nothing. so could you please tell me if these ECs are completely terrible? i am a rising junior.
thanks!

sooo..?

Not bad at all, though some clubs and captainships would do you good. Consistent volunteering would help too.

Some people are just sports oriented. Just get some leadership and you should be great.

Depends on the colleges you’re applying to. Altar serving won’t impress Ivies lo. =p

Try to get some leadership or club positions. More service hours would be great as well.

Agree with Puggly. You’re a rising Junior…you’ve got plenty of time to work on ECs and stand out.

OP: Go buy Cal Newport’s new book titled “How to be a High School Superstar (How to Stand Out Without Burning Out)” It will change the way you look at extra curriculars. It’s amazing.

honestly theyre ok. but it doesnt seem like youre really dedicated to any one of them. my frosh and soph ecs were ok but jr yr i really blossomed and accomplished some great stuff and got really involved and now i have great stuff to talk about in my essays. just decide what you like the best and find a way to make that unique.
