Okay, so i'm kind of new at this, and i'm not sure exactly where to put this post. (Sorry!?)

Anyways, im currently a junior at a tough private school. We don't do GPA or class rank, but i would say im in the top 10/120. I probably have about an A- average (and this is saying a lot here).

Took the SAT and got a 2230 (first try! :D)
W:800 CR: 750 M:760

Taking pretty much the hardest classes, given what is possible. (no APs offered)

I think my ECs are pretty sad... but whatever.
I was in StuCo one year, and have been in Math Honor Society two years. I do a pretty consistent community service (almost weekly) helping tutor kids and adults at a local center. I also tutor at school. Also, i play sports year round, so that takes up a good bit of my time.

So... i'm not sure if i've given enough info, but i wanted to start looking at colleges and i have no clue where to start or where i could get in. I think i'm leaning more towards sciences at this point, although that could very possibly change. Also, i don't think i would do so well at a huge state university (I'm thinking no UT-Austin, Texas A&M size schools...)

Any ideas?

u cud look at liberal arts colleges that are strong in the sciences - swarthmore, reed, grinnell etc. u cud also consider places like harvey mudd and caltech although they are reaches for everyone. but at caltech u cud have an advantage by being a girl.

Do you like biology, physics, math, chem, psych, anthro, computers? Do you think you'd like to work in a lab, forest, high-rise, classroom? Do you want a small school with no TAs? Do you need financial aid? Too many questions!

You have stats that could get you into many top universities. Why don't you tell us more about the type of setting you are looking for.

Do you want a school that us rural, suburban or urban?

Are there any geographic preferences (NE, Mid Atlantic, Southeast, Midwest, West etc...)?

Are there any financial restrictions or are you folks able to support you financially without too much trouble?

What state are you a resident of (sounds like you are from Texas)?

Do you want a lively and spirited campus or do you prefer a small and cozy campus?

Socially, do you want a school that is intense or more laid back?

Academically, do you prefer and intense and intellectual feel or would you rather have a more easy going and laid back environment?

I know you said you are interested in the sciences, but can you be more specific? Can you list 4 or 5 possible majors?

Do you have graduate and professional aspirations that you know of? If so, share them with us.

ok... answers to questions:
i like math and chem/bio, but i dont think i would want to major in math.

i think any setting would be okay, but i want a school that has a strong campus community (not so urban that no one is ever there)

shouldnt be any financial restrictions, probably couldn't get much need-based aid... merit aid would be nice

yes, from texas

would prefer a more laid back campus (also, probably not so big on the whole frat/sorority stuff)

listing majors would be hard, im still very undecided. i'm thinking that i may end up going to med school in the long run, but that doesnt really help, does it?
