"I've seen HYPS, CHYMPS, SHYP, etc... why can't you just say Ivy league schools."

Er, because Stanford, MIT, and Caltech aren't Ivies?
[/quote]

and also because a lot of schools in the ivy league are not of the same caliber as these schools listed. HYP are in a tier of their own within the ivy league

Stanford is often considered the "Harvard of the West Coast." It's practically official on campus. And even if it's not exactly the same, it's still pretty darn good.

And Caltech and MIT can whip HYP in plenty of subjects.

I also disagree with the public ivies list.
I haven't even heard of some of these schools. Also, I don't think that UC Davis, Irvine, Riverside, Santa Barbara, and Santa Cruz are even close to public ivies. A lot of people who don't have good scores or grades get into those universities...

My list:

The Public Ivys
University of California - Berkeley, Los Angeles, San Diego,
University of Michigan at Ann Arbor
Univeristy of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
University of Texas at Austin (maybe...?)
Universtiy of Virginia at Charlottesville
William and Mary College of Virginia

yeah that's why I had two threads because I found a larger list... in that thread it's like randomly in the middle.... and most people don't go to the parents forum...
