I am ranked number three right now as a junior first semester. I really really really want to get to at least #2. What should I do to increase my rank? Im already taking all hnrs/AP classes but would taking another class outside of school benefit me more?

do you really want to "increase" your rank or would you rather improve or decrease it?

haha increasing it is easy: stop going to all your classes

Bribe and/or threaten and/or blackmail the teacher and/or the #1/2 students.

I hear a good hit man will only run you about 20K or so. You know what to do.

convince #1/2 to graduate early

get better grades

What grade are you in? If you're in 9th, then don't worry. In my school, everyone has a 4.0 freshman year... then later, your rank is marked by how much your GPA DOESN'T drop.

If you're in Senior year, then forget it... its over.

If you're in Junior year... then orchestrate a series of events so gruesome, so contrived, and so inhumane that they'll make a movie out of "true events" and eventually lead to the reform of our educational system.

take all 30 AP courses that your school offers simultaneously and ace them all

Sacrifice a three year old female goat. Trust me.

Take less unweighted classes or load up on post AP level classes at the local CC over the summer and transfer weighted credits...

ya im a junior. see the only reason that is preventing my from being #1 is because the other two had band frosh/soph which goes down as pass/fail while i had an actual class that was prolly unwieghted. i wish i was in band...but this essentially means i took MORE classes and did well in them.

ya. now i know. every single one of my classes is honors/ap this year and thats what bumped me up from #7/530 to #3 this year.

oh well. i was just wondering lol. now im just hoping i can maintain this level through next semester...thats the real challenge!

take the most AP's u can
if that doesnt work, get all A's
if that doesnt work, make opponent get a B
if tha doesnt work, hijack schools comp system
if tha doesnt wkr ur screwed

Aren't you content with being #3? jw.

Haha how do you make your opponents get a B? Share some strategies~
Because I'm pretty sure the risk-benefit ratio for hijacking the school computers is not great.

there's always the option of doing a sabotage mission on #1 and #2

Damn I didn't realize they deleted the Number2 sabotage thread on the Admissions forum. That was hilarious.

If you're getting straight As then there's nothing you can do. Don't try to take other classes or anything like that.

A 1 is essentially the same as a 3, which is essentially the same as a 10 or a 15. College's don't care that much.

3 is excellent. Don't worry about it.

Have you seen that law & order episode w/ that one really competitive prep school?

Take some drugs, don't sleep for a few days, murder your academic competitors.
Don't worry, if they catch you, you will only get sentenced as a minor with a plea of temporary insanity caused by the lack of sleep.

Now your # 1 and your parents will be so proud.

yah take like 3 other classes outside of school, hopefully you will burn out and your rank will plummet ~~

This problem is predictable. As you advance through the grades in HS, the ones who are most likely to drop out are going to be well BELOW you in rank. Meanwhile, those above have the tenacity to stick it out, take the AP's etc. This is why the real value added between a Val/Sal and the next 10-20 students (depending on the size of the school) is rather nebulous.
