ik they talk a lot abt it in last yrs thread
Thank you.
I found it.
For my interview I was really nervous because I had never interviewed for a college before but a week before my SD interview, I had my first BS/MD interview and that really helped me see how it goes. After that, I definitely practiced a lot more and made sure I would be able to answer possible questions like “Why do you want to be in this program?” The process itself was short but there was also a lot that happened. I started in a lobby with U1s and other prospective students scheduled to interview (like 3 or 4 other people) and they were basically breaking the ice before the interview actually started. It was awkward though. I think out of my whole group, I was the only one who got in because I didn’t see my other interviewees in my classes or in the prematric summer classes. You get 3 interviewers. The first one will be a student, I’m not really sure how much say they get in admissions but I would say treat them like the other 2 interviewers that will follow. The student is there to answer any questions you have about the program, ease any nervousness, etc. I remember I bonded with my student interviewer about painting. My second interviewer was this really really sweet lady that you will most definitely meet again if you get in. She asked me about my essay and inquired further about my extracurriculars and what they did for me. I was able to tie my extracurriculars into how they made me the best candidate for the program. My third interviewer was one of the advisors for the medical school students. She answered all my technical questions about the program, like research, extracurriculars available, mental health support, etc. ngl, it was harder to talk to her than the others for some reason, maybe I was burnt out but I didn’t feel it went as well as the others but I don’t think she particularly didn’t like me as a candidate. After my interview, the U1s were kinda distracted and I thanked everyone for the opportunity and left.
Advice I would give about the interview is to be genuine. This program has an insane talent for finding people that are telling the truth. I can say that I definitely presented my authentic self. Another piece of advice I would give is to do your research on the program, it’s definitely a plus if you show them that you’ve read up on them and you’re genuinely interested in the things that they have to offer as a program (they offer a lot).
I’m pretty sure it’s my essays that got me an interview because my interviewers brought up my essay every single time and complimented how well-written it was and said I was able to convey my passion as well as who I was as a person successfully.
The most important advice I can give you is to not get down on yourself. You are smart enough and you are good enough. Whether you get in this program or not, if you want to be a doctor, trust me you will become one.
