I got my interview email today, its next week thursday for me....Valentine's day.

The interviews aren't bad at all. There's three of them, one with a student and two with faculty, they ask pretty standard stuff, like "why a doctor?" and "Why Sophie?' and such. My interviewers were all really nice, didn't grill me or anything, but did ask some things about my essays (so remember your essays well). Also, have some engaging questions ready to ask your interviewers. If you've made it this far, you're obviously qualified, so just relax and be yourself.

is anyone still waiting for an interview notification?

Did any one get into sophie davis without an interview??

i doubt anyone could get in without an interview...apparently once you have an interview, your admissions decision no longer is based upon your scores and such, but as the person you come off as to the 3 interviewers. It's clear that you are a qualified applicant with your recommendations and other materials but now, they want to see what you've got to bring to the table for themselves, not just what your teachers/mentors/other recommenders have to say.

but my cuny app says
Congratulations on your admission to:
0179 THE CITY COLLEGE Biomedical Education (Day)
wat does tht mean??

that would probably mean that you're accepted into the city college with a biomed major...sophie is in the midst of interviews and you dont get your final decision until the very end of march.

BUt isn't 0179 a code for sophie davis?

yea, but they prob accepted u as that major..SD only tells u at the end of march..there is no way they made any decisions yet

okii thanxs for the info i guess i got happy for no reason

hey everyone, i hope it went well For those who had the interview today or before. Could you guys give some feedback on how it was, like what kind of questions, what kind of tough questions about the essays, extracurricular/community service etc. thnx

Hope everyone whos having interviews right now gets in.

Are they still sending out interviews??

yea I think so... last year they continued to send out interview notifications till the third week of March

yeahh, so people who are perhaps more qualified than some who are getting interviews right now can be rejected, simply because the adcom didn't get to their applications yet, and the interview number was exceeded.

hey everyone, can any of u guys who had the interview say what tough questions they asked? thnx :)

does anyone here have sophie davis as their number one choice

maj58, did you get an interview notification yet?

nope, haven't gotten any notification yet, and sophie is my first choice.

Hey guys! I was notified about my interview at the end of January and was assigned an interview for February 5th. I thought they went relatively well, though I can't say that I left feeling as if my admissions decision was certain (I don't think we ever can :)). There were three interviews; one with a student, and two others with faculty members.

Everyone was incredibly nice. I half-expected to be lined up like cattle and called in, one by one, for an intense interrogation-esque thing. What a completely incorrect presumption to make! Everyone was really warm and welcoming. The current students seem really close. The day of the interview made me want to go to the school more than ever. :)

The interview questions were not as difficult as I thought they would be. You simply need to know why you want to go into medicine. If you can verbalize that much, then the other questions (which are largely about yourself) will be terribly easy to field. Please read your essays before you show up. I did one on education and was asked to defend my stance on vouchers during the third interview. :)

Good luck to everyone who has applied! I couldn't sleep the night before the interview, so don't worry if you get butterflies. :)

Yours,
Ilir
