Sophomore Dorms

Anyone have any thoughts on the sophomore dorms…specifically Mo Pratt (4th floor)?
Thanks!

That’s where my kid is living this year.

Rentof2…any feedback from your daughter that you can share? I will be at Mo Pratt next year. Just wanted to get some thoughts from anyone who has lived there or anyone who has any first hand knowledge about MP. Thanks.

If Mo Pratt is anything like Chuck Pratt, expect luxurious accommodations and big open spaces… and lots of dorm damage. Noise on occasion.

Mo Pratt’s “Resort Room” is really a great place for a cocktail party, say, but the bros and bras who live there prefer the socials for their partying, I guess. Which is good for you, should you decide to live there.

Taking into account the pros and cons, it’s the second best place to live for rising sophomores… after Morrow. ;)

It’s my son. He likes it, I think. I was just there visiting a few days ago. His room is on the fourth floor, it’s a double. It seemed fairly roomy to me, for a dorm room. He went into room draw with some good friends, so they are in adjacent rooms, which he likes. He said the elevator smelled pretty bad until recently when they replaced the carpet in there. He generally stuck to the stairs before that. I think he’s liked it fine there, especially being in the core campus, he likes being close to classrooms and Val. The ballroom is pretty cool on the first floor, but no doubt you know that already.

He and his room draw group ended up with a really bad spot in room draw this year, and so next year he’s just going across the way to a two room double in Morrow. He wanted a single but it didn’t work out. He does like being close to everything though, so Morrow has that going for it.

Rentof2…apologies, I thought you had a daughter…sorry about that. Thanks for the info. It was helpful. Thanks to kwu, also! More info is definitely better than less.

I heard that 4th floor is going to be an all-girls floor next year in Pratt. The rooms in Mo Pratt are very nice, especially the corner rooms. It’s nice cause it is close to Val but it is also fairly far (relative to other dorms of course since nothing is far on Amherst Campus) from the Merrill Science building, Seeley Mudd math building and Maguire Life Science building, where primarily where I have my classes. It can get noisy occasionally but for the most part, parties aren’t really held there.

I personally didn’t want to live over there and instead chose to live in one of the socials which have individual rooms and a common room which I really like, even though it can get really noisy.
