Sophomore Housing

I'm continuing to the College of Arts and Sciences next semester and was looking for some advice on the housing (e.g., on-campus vs. off-campus). As part of this, how does off-campus housing work with financial aid? Do I receive a financial aid distribution equal to what I would have received for on-campus housing?

Also, some residence halls are apparently assigned in part by class standing (is this correct?) This is my second year and my intended graduation date is 2015, but I have junior standing, if that's relevant.

So, you’re signup time is based on the amount of credits you have. And, you have guaranteed housing your first two years (Complex and Clairmont Tower and Woodruff are all places you can stay. And Alabama and others). So, you should have guaranteed housing and first dibs at the spots they’ll reserve specifically for sophomores.

Apparently I am a third-year student for housing purposes…

aiginqinf,

Did you get that ruling from Res Life?

I would have said that as a second year student, you were required to live on campus, with your place in line determined by academic credit hours.

There is another second year dorm in addition to those mentioned above: Clifton Towers.

Yep, Res Life confirmed in writing that I’m a third-year student for res life purposes. So I’m debating on-campus vs. off-campus.

There are a lot of off-campus choices. One popular apartment area is across the street from Clairmont Campus, which enbles you to catch the Clairmont shuttle to main campus.
