Does Emory guarantee housing on campus for sophomores, juniors and seniors? If not , what are the housing options for these students?
I believe on campus housing is guaranteed for sophomores. I know that for juniors and seniors it’s not guaranteed. The only other housing options are the Clairmont Campus and off campus apartments.
Pretty much on point^
You’re basically guaranteed housing Sophomore year. Then Junior/Senior year you have the option to go off campus to Clairmont (owned by Emory, similar rates to dorm price). Or you can go live in apartments (the popular option being Emory pointe but probably $100-200 more a month + you gotta sublease which becomes a hassle)
Thanks for your information! Is it walkable from Clairmont to Emory? Also, is it difficult to get an apartment at Clairmont?
Clarimont campus is just a bit under 2 miles from the main Emory campus, so it’s a 30 to 40 minute walk. There’s a shuttle. There are also a number of different apartment complexes where Emory juniors and seniors end up. My son is about to start his senior year. He’s lived at the Highland Lake Circle complex (in a 2BR/2BA unit), which are essentially down the block from the Clairmont campus. There are a lot of Emory students there.
Of course it helps to have a car if you’re off-campus. A lot.
You don’t necessarily have to sublease, but the apartment complexes are obnoxious in not letting you take less than a twelve-month lease. That wasn’t an issue for my son, as he stayed around over the summer, but next summer he’ll either be subletting to someone or he’ll have to eat that rent (assuming he moves out of Atlanta).
@greentravel No not really, unless you like walking. There’s multiple shuttles that transport between the two campuses every 15 minutes or so.
