Sophomore Housing

Currently I'm housing in a super double room in Abel hall. interested in looking at the courtyards and the village for housing next year. Would that be a good place to live? Is there a social life there or is the place dead? How many people should I room with? Can girls room in same room too? What is the best way to make sure I get in since they seem to be in high demand?

Thanks

Unfortunately, University housing policies are probably the ONE thing that I really know next to absolutely nothing about at UNL...I lived in the fraternity house for 3 years and then moved off campus. Can't tell you anything about the Village or the Courtyards. The courtyards opened up my senior year and I heard a variety of things, mainly bad, but mostly associated with their newness (things not working quite right, lacked a lockout system early on so all external doors were open 24/7, etc). I'm assuming those things got fixed.

the only people I know who ever lived in the courtyards were a group of at-the-time junior Alpha Phis, who hadn't earned enough points to live in the sorority house and thus decided to live there. This would have been my senior year. I seem to remember they thought they were okay but as they turned 21 they were upset by the inability to have alcohol in their rooms. However they realized that had they been living in the sorority house (which was their first preference) they also wouldn't have had that luxary.

My guess is that the "social life" is probably dead compared to the dorms, as people are grouped in suites with their friends already, and there are fewer people on each floor. And since everyone has their own bathrooms, that social area is missing.
