sophomore life

Is sophomore life at USC really different from freshman life, because most ppl live off campus and have their group of friends already? Is it easier to feel lonely as a sophomore?

In other words... should I really cherish these last 1.5 months I have as a freshman here?

It is different if you’ve been living in the dorms. You’ll no longer have dozens of house mates, but it’s very easy to keep in touch. Having a kitchen, real bathroom, maybe even your own bedroom, is worth it though.

Also, since everybody no longer all goes to the dining halls for meals and it is less easy to bump into people on campus since everyone lives off-campus, wouldn’t it be a lot harder to keep in touch with friends that you are not living with?

By friends, I was assuming you saw them more often than the dining halls and dorms.

Hahahahaha. So cute!

By now, you probably already know your sophomore living arrangement. Are you living with friends? And do they have friends? Cool! There’s your social group.

You’ll also meet new people in classes – more friends.

And you’ll probably join a club or something – even more friends.

My sophomore year, I went to a party and ended up meeting my boyfriend probably less than a month into school. He and his friends were my close friends all throughout the rest of college. Obviously, having friends sophomore year is 100% easy to do.

You can always call or text people, too. Meet up with them on campus for lunch when you both have a free hour. Easy!

If anything, socializing gets better in your sophomore, junior and senior years. Freshman “partying” is always pretty pathetic.

do people usually make friends with their floormates in sophomore year in the same way that they do in freshmen dorms? or do people do that less since people are living with their own friends already?

It depends. Be friendly and outgoing – not weird and stalker-like – and I’m sure people would include you in social gatherings.

where are you living next year?

la sorbonne

I don’t know why you keep bumping this thread… What you’ve asked has been described as much as it can and there’s really nothing more anyone here can help you with.

I hope you kept in touch with certain friends from freshman year, as they will probably be your friends for the first bit of sophomore year. You have plenty of opportunities to meet new people; it’s only sophomore year. STOP. WORRYING.
