"sophomore or junior"

I'm looking for a research position for the fall, and the posting that i am most interested in requires that the applicant be a sophomore or junior. However, i have had significant experience (40 hrs a week for 8 weeks this summer and ~30 hours a week volunteering last summer at the USDA-ERRC). I've been trained to handle liquid nitrogen/freezer mills and mix agar plates and reagants. Also, I've spent much of this summer working by myself on experiments that my supervisor has designed.

So, my question is... Should i apply for this position despite the fact that I am an incoming freshman?

Why not? The worst that could happen is you not getting the job, and that certainly will happen if you don’t even apply.

thanks srrinath. you’re absolutely right =)

I agree with srrinath.
also I gotta say that it is awesome that you have had such experiences before even starting college. I had nothing like that while I was in high school, though I wish I did.

faustarp: i got really lucky. i’ve participated in science fair since 6th grade and I was lucky enough to receive an award from the USDA and an offer to apply for an internship
