Sophomore: Practice SAT/ACT Scores

So I'm a sophomore and I took a practice SAT and a practice ACT without any practice just to see what I would get. On the SAT I got like 1760-1920 and on the ACT I got a 25. I am quite disappointed, especially with the ACT score because I found that really easy. I've got a LOT of preparing and studying ahead of me..

How would you rate these scores for a sophomore, though? Above-average, average, below-average?

Oh and if it matters at all, I got a 169 on the PSAT as a freshman.

Above average I'd say. There are alot of seniors who wouldn't mind a 1920 on the SATs :].
Theres always room for improvement thou, and you have plenty of time.

I heard that ACT score goes up two points a year without special effort, so a 25 as a sophomore would be a 27 as a junior and a 29 as a senior. Taking practice tests in the lower scoring areas would be a good way to boost that.

I got around a 1880? when I took it as a sophomore without much practice just to see what the real test is like. So you're definitely on the right track!
With some preparation over the summer, I took it again in October of junior year and got 2230 by doing some practice tests and concentrating on my weakest sections (CR, W)

Sophomore year (590 CR, 710 M, 580 W)
Junior year (710-CR, 730 M, 790 W) I didnt study for math at all and I know I just made some stupid mistakes because I thought it was really easy.

That's excellent, great job! I hope I can be like you and get a really good score junior year.

Thank you!
I'm sure you'll do fine as well. It just takes practice, practice, practice! It helps a lot to be really familiar with the test so you know there won't be any surprises on the real one. It also calms you down because you feel like you're just taking another practice test.
Good luck!

you should aim to improve your 25 to a 30. That is probably reasonable and acceptable for you at this point

I increased like 20 points from freshman to sophomore, which is pretty cool. hopefully I’ll break a 200 next year, :p
