I have to choose my next year's courses, I am confused because I don't know if it is better to take 3 AP classes or take only 1 or 2 and devote myself into ECs. What do you guys think?

The classes are AP Biology, AP Art History, and AP World History

No need to take 2 history classes. Pick one of the history’s. Two is more than enough for sophomore year. My high school doesn’t even offer AP’s until junior year.

Are those the only 3 you can pick from? Take all three and also focus on ECs. The most difficult one will be Bio and it is not that bad. If calc AB or BC is offered and you are up to it, I would swap out AP Art for math.

Yes, but I am barely a sophomore. You can take AP Calculus AB and BC until you are a senior. I am focusing on ECs,but I am afraid that if I take too many APs, then I will not have time to focus on my ECs because I’ll be stuck doing homework

@ j0shk10, I need to take Visual and Performing Arts for 2 semesters. I was thinking of taking Art History to fill the 2 semesters I need. In AP World History, it is mandatory to take world history in your 4 year career in high school… so… I don’t know what to do.

my bad…I didn’t catch that you are sophmore. I still think taking all three would not be bad. If the teachers are good, I would not hesitate. Most AP teachers that I have had are pretty structured and have had a good schedule laid out to cover all the material needed for the exam and still leave a month to prep for the exam during class, except for my psycho AP Stat teacher. AP classes will be more work; I am not knocking Art Hist (I never took it) but I wouldn’t think that it would be that taxing.

As far as ECs go. it is far better to focus on a few than have many. When you focus on a few, colleges see this as passion. If you have too many, they see it as resume building.

I agree, I think that I will focus my time on 2 or 3 ECs and take those AP classes.
