I looked through Rice's website, but I was unable to find their policy on whether sophomore teacher recommendations are okay.

Does anyone know whether Rice accepts recommendations from sophomore teachers? Is there a source I missed somewhere that states Rice's policy on this?

You can have anyone write you a letter of rec, although if you haven’t had that teacher for a while, I would say colleges don’t look too kindly on it. But sophomore teachers should be fine as long as they really know you. The teachers I had write my recs were ones I essentially had for at least 2 years.

I used a recommendation from a sophomore teacher, BUT I participated in an extracurricular that she coached and definitely kept up with her the two years after I was in her class. You want somebody who knows you, and who will make that clear in a recommendation - if you feel like a sophomore teacher fits that bill more than your more recent teachers, go for it.

You should be fine. Just make sure they know you.
