Sophomore transfer between UCs

Hey guys,

I've heard it's really hard/impossible to transfer as a sophomore. I'm currently at UC Davis and it's not really for me, so I'd like to transfer to Berkeley or UCLA. I've heard of switching to comm. college for a year but i'd rather not do that. Do you think it's possible to transfer as a sophomore? My grades are pretty good here (3.75+, maybe 4). I'd like your advice; I really don't like it here.

i'm applying to berkeley as a transfer from Davis too. But i'm a junior transfer, i think it's extremely rare for them to take sophomore transfers, especially from another UC

Sophomore and senior transfers very, very, very rarely happen and almost never without a good excuse (illness, etc). I suggest applying and trying your chances, but just know how crazy competitve it is at both schools and that being a sophomore transfer will lessen the chances considerably. If not, theres always next year. However, if youre truly focused on getting to one of those 2 schools, your absolute best bet is ccc -> uc. It may not sound appealing, but as a junior transfer your chances would be about 50% higher than if you stayed at Davis. Just stuff to consider. Good luck.

When I try to apply as a sophomore transfer, all of the majors become closed. I don't know what to do and the admissions office is closed for Thanksgiving. Do you guys have any suggestions? Does this mean that maybe they don't even accept ANY sophomore transfers? Should I not even apply? I have a few days to do this... I haven't even started.

HELP! I have a few days left.

Actually according to the UC it is easier to transfer from one uc to another than to go from cc to a UC.

VTBoy, really? where can u find this information?

what? r u sure about that VTboy, because ive heard 99% of times its almost impossible to transfer from UC to UC, and cc ppl always get preference over others.
