Sophomore Year... 4 AP's... Need Advice on Time Management

Hey, so I plan on taking 4 AP’s next year… and I’m really freaking out even though it’s the middle of summer.

Here’s what my schedule will look like:

AP Bio (online)
AP Psychology (online)
AP Computer Science Principles
AP World History
Chemistry Hon
Precal Hon
English 2 Hon
Spanish 2
Debate 1

Yeah… I have high dreams in the future… Anyways, I’m also going to be joining the service club(s). BETA or Interact, I’m not sure which yet. I have no idea how I am going to manage it all, but it’s important that I do. My school is extremely competitive.

Also, debate takes a lot of your time IF you’re committed enough to be on traveling teams and weekly tournaments. As I’m aiming high, I really need to be heavily involved in something if it’s not musical fine arts. I chose debate.

What should I do? I know some things are going to take hours of homework (AP World) while other things need extra attention (AP Bio). Noting that I didn’t do so hot in biology honors and haven’t taken chemistry yet, I am really nervous since a majority of my time is going to be centered around these two classes.

Any advice on time management? How were these courses for you guys? Study plans for high exam scores?

Edit: I know AP Bio is extremely difficult without chemistry honors. I made a mistake guys, and I can’t go back… Hahahah, I’m fine, I’m fine, I’m totally… fine.

I wouldn’t take all those courses especially if you want to excel in debate. I would skip both online courses.

Skip the online courses.
In particular, withdraw from AP bio since you didn’t do that well in honors bio AND didn’t take honors chem yet to not. Email your GC today.
Overloading on courses will NOT “impres” colleges. Six Academic classes + debate is considered plenty even for the most selective colleges.

Unfortunately, I am stuck in both AP classes. My grace period has already ended, and if I withdraw now then it would show up negatively on my transcript. I just feel really misinformed because my biology honors teacher had told me to jump into AP. I started researching this summer to find out it wasn’t a great idea.

Do try to withdraw anyway. I’m guessing that if you never take the class at worst you’d end up with a W, which your GC can explain, although the presence of honors chem sophomore year and ap bio junior year would be pretty self explanatory as to why you withdrew from ap bio.

I agree, as someone who has taken AP Bio and received college credit for it, honors chemistry is absolutely necessary. I remember the very first unit for me was biochemistry and everything I learned in honors chemistry was incredibly helpful. Let me know if you need any resources or advice if you find you are still taking AP Biology. Best of luck!
