2 bs sophomore year out of 8. Don’t normally get bs. One of the bs is an 88.9 which is really annoying.
Do colleges really look at sophomore year?
Colleges look at your overall GPA…as well as your SAT or ACT scores, letters of reference, ECs, and essays.
You will still get accepted to college with 2 B grades…or even more. There are 3000 colleges in this country.
Yes, colleges look at sophomore year. When the time comes to apply to colleges you will need to honestly asses your academic stats (including GPA, standardized tests, course rigor) as well as your financial needs and apply to a wide range of reach, match, and safety schools that appear affordable (you will have to run a net price calculator for each school you consider) and that you would be excited to attend. There are many wonderful schools out there where you can have a great 4 year experience and get where you want to go in life.
Your junior year of HS is the last one seen. Improving grades mean you have learned how to study to get top grades. Freshman year may not have challenged you as much as well. And you may not be the perfect grades student- like most at even the most elite colleges.
Relax about the grades. Enjoy your summer. Next fall become engaged in learning the knowledge and skills presented in your classes. Learn your limitations- do not be a perfectionist. Challenge yourself, study and take part in activities. You are multifaceted and grades are only one part of you. You will end up at an appropriate college where you can thrive. The best college for even gifted students is not always the most highly ranked/elite one, btw.
Shift in thinking. Do your best and life will unfold as it should. Hopefully your parents are not on your case for not getting perfect grades.
It depends. At many colleges, if you are applying regular decision, your HS could be asked to send your senior mid year grades.
Admissions is not always all about grades- and yours are fine anyway. Make sure you spend time on other interests and activities. If you find you are super anxious about such things, you can always talk to a counselor. Enjoy high school and things will fall into place.
re senior year- true that grades get asked for but a stellar junior year will show improvement over lower grades prior to that.
OP- Remember you are not expected to have perfect grades. There are many variables in college admissions. Do figure out why you got the grades you did- even the A’s. Was a class easy, hard, did you need a lot of time to do well, do you feel you learned a lot or already knew much… One positive thing you can do for next year (that will apply tp o college as well) is to figure out how you can improve. Sometimes it is the overall workload, other times it is thinking you knew more than you did…It can also be difficult to do well if you are not interested in the subject.
Be proud of how well you have done so far.
