Well I have 2 B’s in my first semester of my sophomore year. I heard sophomore year is very important so I’m wondering if these 2 grades are what gonna stop me from the top schools. I know I sound like a grade freak but compared to all the other people here I look like I’m a rat.
Junior year is more important than sophomore year. Two B’s won’t kill you. If you get all A’s junior year that will show an upward trend so even better. Remember grades are everything, so you should be doing other stuff–finding your passions, doing meaningful ECs, maybe entering contests, trying to get leadership positions, etc.
Thanks man
Nope! 2 B pluses cannot actually influence your health!
BTW I meant grades aren’t everything lol.
1 B makes virtually no impact and 2Bs shouldn’t hurt you too much. So you should be fine for top schools in terms of gpa if you get all As junior year!
If only final grades go on your transcript, pull those 2 B’s to A’s. If they’re block classes, aka one semester courses, then you’re kinda screwed.
Resounding no.
Do your best in Junior year. Good luck.
@heyhey241 No, not at all. In fact, I’d advise you to step away from these forums and just do your best this year. Focus on great work habits and earn the best grades you can.
@ChanceMeChanceMe , no, no, no. No one is “screwed”. Even with two B’s in 10th grade. I have a student who had a cumulative 2.5GPA in 9th and 10th grade, with plenty of B’s and C’s on his transcript. He had an upward trend in 11th and did great, and already has 6 college acceptances under his belt (and a few scholarships as well).
^^ what @STF4717 said.
Also, don’t expect other high school children or worse, MIDDLE SCHOOL children to give you sound advice about admission.
If you are this paralyzed by grades and dreams of “top” schools instead of learning, that is not a good sign. Do your teachers see you as a curious and motivated student? Their LORs are going to matter eventually.
Thanks for all the responses:)) I feel a bit better thankss
it’s what post #10 says. Kids get into the top schools without perfect grades. Once your gpa is good enough to show you can handle the work then all the other stuff comes into play: your recs, your essays, your scores, your ECs, etc. A few B’s are not the make-or-break factor.
