I’m a girl that is really into sports and is a little tom boyish, but I like to get dressed up sometimes and hangout with friends. I am pretty real. I am interested in joining a sorority at Ole Miss but worried I won’t fit in. Any info or tips would help! Thank you!
Just pick a house that you feel comfortable in. Don’t get caught up in what “tier” it is in. Ole Miss kids are very friendly. My son is a sophomore from the Midwest and he pledged a fraternity with students from all over the country.
Alright! Thank you! I really appreciate it!
Please understand that you don’t just “pick a house.” Recruitment is a process of mutual selection.
I think Brookie knows it is a mutual selection process, she will make her decisions after each round as will the houses she has visited.
@BrookieK I wrote this on another recent post, and I will write it here. Ole Miss has men and women from all over the US, different races, religions and ethnic backgrounds and any other “labels” out there that are part of fraternity and sorority life as a whole. Going through the recruitment process will show you if it’s for you or not. The processes are different each year because the members are different. Find the house that’s right for you, and you’ll be fine. There’s also nothing wrong with realizing that Greek life is not the way to go. There are over 250 other campus organizations at Ole Miss for you to choose from to meet people!
Is there a lot of pressure to go Greek? My son, as of now, is not interested in being a part of a frat, even though he is a well rounded student.
it’s big greek, but independents feel at home just like at any school. There is no pressure. I would have him go through rush, it may be something he likes and he doesn’t have to pledge even if he is invited to join a particular house.
Only 35% of the campus student population is involved with Greek Life. @raven2016
