Hi everyone! I am an in state student attending the University of Georgia in the fall with an intention of participating in sorority recruitment. I would consider myself rather knowledgable about the process in general, but I have hit a bump in the road in terms of recommendations. The alumnae associations nearest to where I live are not currently active. After seeking out recommendations from personal sources, would a “blind” recommendation through a woman that does not previously know me be considered as valid? Is it considered proper to seek out other alumnae groups from other areas in the state in order to gain recommendations since the local chapters are inactive? Thank y’all for any advice or help!
Why is being in a sorority so important to you?
CollegeDadofTwo, your question does not even pertain to kw1316’s question. She is not asking for your approval to join a sorority. She is asking for guidance through the process.
Yes! Call some alumnae chapters and ask, they are always so happy to help.
Let all your friends mothers and other adults know your intentions for going through recruitment. Often times a family friend will know someone in a sorority that can write you a recommendation. Cast the widest net possible. Best wishes!
