To current undergraduates at Penn:
What are the current reputations of the sororities? How would you rank them?
I’m currently an undergrad at Penn and involved in a frat as well.
Taking into consideration the most recent pledge classes and past reputations of the sororities…
Top Tier:
Kappa Alpha Theta
Chi Omega
Alpha Chi Omega
Middle Tier:
Delta Delta Delta
Sigma Delta Tau
Sigma Kappa
Lower Tier:
Alpha Phi
Zeta Tau Alpha
Alpha Delta Pi
…
Kappa Alpha Theta: has a pretty specific type: Sceney girls or internationals. Some are pretty attractive and that’s why they got in, some are just internationals and that’s why they got in. Mostly mix with the off campus frats or just go downtown. Heavily known for being snobby and catty girls. Thus, not the greatest sisterhood.
Chi Omega: Among the frats, this year’s pledge class (2015) has developed the reputation of being a really good PC - hot, super fun to mix with, and really chill girls. The 2014 and 2015 PCs brought Chi O to the top. Overall, it’s filled with a lot of girls who like to party, while some don’t, but know when to get their shit together. Known to have a strong sisterhood. One of the most competitive/favorite sororities during rush this year.
Alpha Chi Omega: Currently under investigation, but regardless this PC is also very good looking and filled with cool girls. Frats are definitely more interested in AXO since they’re under investigation. Girls known to be “bro-ey.” Don’t have the strongest sisterhood. One of the most competitive/favorite sororities during rush this year.
Delta Delta Delta: Used to be a top tier sorority, but as of this year, with their new pledge class, they definitely dropped to middle tier. The newest pledge class is half typical DDD girls, but the other half are girls who ended up getting snap bids (aka girls who weren’t offered bids by any other sororities). During rush, DDD messed something up and didn’t get most of the girls they wanted. Thus, they have a lot of mediocre girls now. Definitely on the decline, but still has girls that are hot and like to party but are pretty unclassy. We’ll see where they end up in a year or so with this new PC.
Sigma Delta Tau: One word: JAPPY. Newest pledge class is sort of boring. Mainly mixes with the Jewish frats. Recently, I think they have been trying to steer away from the “jappy” stereotype… but, that hasn’t really been working out for them too well. Girls are nice but a little plain, not the biggest partiers. Lots of cool girls though.
Sigma Kappa: Up and coming sorority. Some girls are pretty and definitely fun to hang with. Some girls are a bit plain though. Mixes with some good frats.
Alpha Phi: Some girls are hot, some girls are plain, some girls are just weird. Has a reputation among frats for being the “easy” sorority to get with when they’re looking to hook up. Girls like to party hard though and get trashed a lot. Could be interchangeable with SK for Middle Tier.
Zeta Tau Alpha: Nice girls but not pretty or hot at all. Sort of plain though. Don’t mix with good frats and are not desired on campus. Lot of the rejects end up here and ADPi. Don’t know too much about them.
Alpha Delta Pi: The newest sorority on campus. A lot of girls who got dropped early on during rush end up here. The girls are pretty weird, but they’re nice. Not attractive either. Don’t mix with good frats and are not desired like Zeta.
Hope this helps you get a better perspective of the sororities at Penn.
