Sorority Spring Recruitment

Hi, so I am currently a Freshman but im 21 years old bc of health reasons I am behind on my hours. I really want to try to join a sorority either spring or next fall as a sophmore but I know my age doesnt match my classification. Would this greatly affect whether or not I will get bids/accepted in?

Maybe. It depends on the sorority and the women in it. This shouldn’t prevent you from signing up for recruitment, though, as the only real way to learn if you will get a bid or get accepted is to go through the process.

Before you do, though, make sure you’re good with your health and your classes. Sorority recruitment can be stressful, and involvement in a sorority can take up a LOT of time.

Just rush and see if there is a group of women who are a fit for you. I can’t imagine the houses would have any “rules” about age. As long as you fit in socially I’m sure you’ll be fine.

Your maturity may be appealling to a sorority. However will you enjoy hanging out with freshman pledges? You will find out during Rush.
Also make sure you understand how much $$ is involved in that sorority…there may be dues/housing fees etc, but also there may be expected gifts to your “big” or “little” and matching outfits and what not. Search on google for “how much to join a sorority” and see examples.

Also there will be many pledging activities in the spring…make sure to keep up on HW/Studying…I remember my DD telling me about her roommate who was pledging but had to stay up late the night before a big test because of pledging stuff. So if you take that into account and get a head on studing you will be okay.
