Hi! Right now I am at the University of San Francisco. I am trying to apply to a different school as a transfer student. I am a new member in Delta Zeta but I have not been initiated yet. At the school i am planning on transferring too, doesn't have Delta Zeta. I know if I don't get initiated I can still rush again. BUT, I heard that because I am de pledging from DZ, it looks bad and I have a less likely chance of getting a bid because it looks like I "wasn't committed". Does anyone know if this is true? Thanks!

Depledging because you are transferring is different from depledging because you changed your mind. I think it is almost universal to see the active college member experience as the vital reason for joining. I would base your decision on how likely the transfer is. If you actually transfer and rush at the new school, I doubt it will be held against you. Is the Greek system at your intended school hyper competitive? Hard for sophomores to pledge? If you don’t transfer and try rushing again at the same school, you will likely have burned your bridges w/ all Panhellenic groups at this school. If you don’t depledge, and initiate, you can be a lifelong delta zeta alum.

@VSGPeanut101 Thank you so much for your comment. It was extremely helpful! I’m glad that they hopefully won’t hold it against me. I just heard a lot of rumors that they would so I felt blackballed haha. I looked up my intended school and it seems that they are very welcome to transfer students and sophomores so I hope it all works out. Thank you so much!
