sorry for another one, but chances?

okay so im pretty sure everyone is starting to hate these, and i really looked around for someone that had already posted one that resembled my situations but i didnt see anything. so if you read this and comment, thank you so much! cornell is pretty much my dream school, but im not sure if im outstanding enough to get in.

im a caucasian female
rising senior
ranked 11/about 550 (top 2%)
weighted gpa - 102.6 (we don;t use the 4.0 scale and i dont know how to convert it)
i am taking the most rigorous course load offered by my school
4 years english (2 pre-AP, 2 AP)
4 years math (pre AP alg 2, geometry &pre-calc, AP calc)
4 years social studies/history (2 pre-AP, 2 AP)
3 years pre-AP spanish
6 "years" science (pre-Ap & AP bio, pre-AP and AP chem, pre-AP physics, AP environmental sciences)

i am hoping to make all state this year on clarinet
i am a drum major (highest leadership position in band) of an extremely prestigious band in my state
active in student council, NHS, high on life (officer), hish on life FREINDS (mentoring "freshmores") band council (senior rep), math club, and link crew (group that helps make the transition to high school easier for incoming freshmen).
i volunteer at the local animal shelter (it started out as required community service, but i realized that i loved it so i kept on after my requirement was fulfilled), the library, and have taught third grade choir at my church since i was in eigth grade.

SAT 2170
CR 700
M 710
W 760
PSAT 224 (probably natl. merit scholar)

i am intrested in either biochem, pre-med, or business/economics.

okay, thanks again for using you time to read this.
comments and constructive criticism is very appreciated!

oh, and i dont know about applying early decision, because i really need financial aid..

well a) what college will you be applying to. people always forget that that makes a huge difference.

b) you will probably end up in CAS since I see you are interested in both economics and biochem/pre-med.

c) I think you have as good a chance as any. strong application, maybe a bit scattered in your EC's

d) ED students get the same financial aid as RD students, despite the rumors. So if it's because you are scared of not getting enough financial aid, there is a clause in ED that says that if your finaid is absolutely horrendous, you can break the contract. Although I doubt you will have to, Cornell is usually very good at meeting FAFSA need.

good luck in applying.

102.6 out of 100? Grade inflate much?

cornell asks counselors to convert your school's grade system into a 4.0 scale...

yeah, sorry ill be applying to CAS
and that is my weighted average (AP and pre-ap courses cause grades to be above one hundred).
soo my counselor will convert my average for me ? :)

Your stats look good. Are there any SAT II's associated with that? I would like to say you have a good shot. As for financial aid, if you feel you feel you haven't gotten a fair package, appeal (but only within reason). Most likely you'll be disappointed, it's just a measure of how disappointed you'll be. Most likely the way the grade is converted is A = 4, B = 3, etc. or 97-100 = 4.3, 93-96 = 4.0. Have your counselor E-mail them if you're not sure.

Which school at cornell has the highest/lowest admission rate?

I think I read somewhere that Engineering had the highest acceptance rate and the AAP had the lowest... but then again, I may be wrong, so you should double-check

Correct.

However, the school that has the highest acceptance rate is the school that best fits you. And to the OP, your school seems to be very lenient with marks. Your SAT IIs will be key in corroborating your school's teaching quality.

I have seem many schools (private, American schools often) that inflate the grades by A LOT. I've lived in Canada for years now, and the grades here are pretty harsh. The highest in each subject is approximately 90~95%.

Why not apply to CALS for biochem/economics?

Seems like a much better chance of getting in, if you ask me.

^There's no biochemistry major at CALS, and AEM (Applied Economics and Management) is the most competitive major at CALS.
