Sorry for the inconvenience, but...

...but I just had to post this thread. :

I'm a junior right now at a very competitive public school. So far I'm thinking about applying next year as an environmental studies major.

...And some other small stuff

[Summer activities]
2003 - travel in Europe and Asia
2004 - skipped 2 courses
2005 - skipped 1 course, worked as a tutor
2006 - NJ Scholars Program, Environmental Management course through Harvard SSP, JSA symposium on leadership and politics, maybe getting a job and/or a course or two at the local CC if possible

I've explored the fields of biology and public policy throughout high school, and they overlap nicely in the field of environmental studies, which I plan to major in in college.

I'll be honest. My reasons for applying to Chicago are not entirely academic (and the fact that I'd have to fly up there isn't very appealing either). But I know a few people who go to Chicago and they happen to be the most interesting people ever, and of course we all know that Chicago is an awesome school overall (who else would name their app the Uncommon Application?!?!), soooooo in summary I like Chicago and I want to go there. :)

Your stats, scores and EC's are solid. Take time and care with your essays. Since your stats are solid, I'd advise applying EA to show them you are seriously interested.

I was considering that at first, but Yale is indisputably my first choice, and it only has SCEA. :

you've gotta be kidding me. How could you possibly rejected?

u make me want to cry, i'm not nearly as qualified as u and my dream school is chicago..i'm already going to do summer school there, i've already visited and fallen madly in love.. my stats are in the "just curious" thread.. i wouldn't be worried at all if i were u.. just show them that u love them, and that you would be a good fit at their school!

Dude what the hell. What the hell man. What the flip.

You have amazing everything, so stop worrying about that part as much.

Sometimes I think people do this just to brag.

nada07 - you look like a very competitive applicant... Good luck to you next year! Not like you'll need it, of course. ;)

Danoush - I'm not quite sure how to receive that, but I'll tell you straight up that I'm not here to brag. I'm seriously curious as to my chances; all I know that Chicago is a very competitive school to get into and that I would love to be able to go there. I don't think I know enough to be able to judge my own chances, but I think regular CC'ers have a better idea. I'm really curious as to what other people think. I don't see why anybody would post a chances thread to brag - how would they benefit from that? I mean, I'm sure there are people who do that, but I don't see any purpose in it, and so I wouldn't do it myself.

thanks jtjz007, i only hope my scores become as strong as urs, good luck to u as well, and i'm sure u will be fine. what makes u love chicago so much? all i know is that to be able to study among the brilliant minds of nobel laureates would be awesome, and that i am just a big nerd who is actually studying bio right now, (i am slightly slacking tho senioritis has kicked in early) i love school.. i knw im a dork

Well, like I said before, the overall quirkiness of the school and the people I know who attend Chicago makes it that much more appealing to me. The city, though far, is supposedly amazing. And of course the faculty is superb. I can't really think of anything negative about Chicago.

Oh, and Rebecca from the last season of The Apprentice had graduated from Chicago. I may have had a teeny weeny TV star crush on her. ;)

haha.. i don't watch tv, bc well i read.. and study excessively.. that's why i like chicago a lot, i think i'd fit in..

i did advertising for my school newspaper and i'm so sick of dealing with the business aspect of it, i hate talking to people you have to be so fake to sell ur product, and then dealing with payments etc.. but i like the design aspect of advertising..

The only show I watch regularly is The Apprentice. The crazy thing is I'm not even into business. Well, it makes me want to be. It's just so damn interesting. :P

nada07 - you can start your own thread, you know. Look at at the top of the Chicago page where it lists the page numbers on the right and side. All the way to the left of that is a button that says New Thread.

yes this is true, good idea..

Sorry, I am just nervous and apprehensive about my application.

Understandably so. Good luck with your decision. I'm sure you'll end up in a fine program in the end. :)
