sorry, this is a stupid question

I played a varsity sport for all four years of high school..
i was wondering... what does it mean to have a "varsity letter"? I got a "letter," as in one of those things you can put on a jacket, but I honestly have no idea what it means.....
so could I say on my application that I am a varsity letter... how do you put that on the application, or is it not worth putting on?
thanks. i know this is a stupid question :P

bump! i was wondering this too!

bump darn stupid.

I don't know much about this, but I do know that receiving a varsity letter is considered good for college applications. It is definitely worth putting on. The varsity letter shows that you are a very good athlete, and colleges love seeing a good balance between sports/ECs and academics.

... but the thing is, I'm NOT that great an athelete. I am on varsity but I didn't make counties.

at our school you get your first "letter" when you get the patch for your letter jacket. every year after that you are on varsity, you get another letter. so since you are on varsity, i would say yes you lettered. it really does depend on the school though.
