Sort of Double Deposit Help!!!!!!!

Hi all,

I am a transfer student from Oberlin and Community College. I had low standards of where I was going to get into schools. So one school I applied to asked me to accept their offer of admission by 4/1, a month before the other schools let me know their decision. My college counselor told me to accept this offer of admission, and she said it would be okay if I were to get into others. I paid no deposit, but I signed that "I confirm my enrollment" and I signed up for summer and fall classes and was excited. However, I later got accepted into two of the best colleges in the country. On their deposits, they ask that I certify that I have not agreed to enroll at any other schools. My college counselor said that as long as I withdraw from the first school first I am fine and can answer honestly, and I will not be in trouble and then I can pay the deposit to my #1 school. Is this accurate? I know what double depositing is, but I don't think this is double depositing.

Thanks,

For fr admits it is double depositing, but it usually doesn’t need to happen because schools have coordinated decision and reply dates. For transfers, there is very little coordination of decision/reply dates between schools, so it is often necessary to put down a deposit at one school before their deadline, wait for the decision from another school, withdraw the first acceptance and take the second.

Your counselor is correct. Congrats on your acceptances!
