I got a 2120 on the SAT, and a couple of 710's on the Lit and Math II subject tests, which I am happy with, but I only have a 3.3 GPA. The classes I have taken are pretty challenging though. I'm also a national Merit Scholar, and I'm interested in business. What are some schools I would be accepted into- I don't know how realistic they are, because I am always above the average SAT's but below the average GPA.

Im looking at BC, UPenn, Villanova, NYU, Santa Clara

that GPA is unweighted, i think its more like 3.5 when it's weighted. my ec's are decent, mostly concentrated in sports, but they are fine. I know Wharton is a stretch, but I am using the common app and its a dream school, so I'm just gonna give it a shot. Thanks for the responses

PS- I do have an uncle who went to Upenn who is apparently a really active alum, and he is going to write me a letter, I don't know how much that will do though.

I'm also looking at American University and Claremont McKenna

many colleges (like Yale and other ivies) wil put less emphasis on standardized test scores if the applicant's high school transcript is esp. strong (since the test is obviously an abhorration of their skills). However, as I quote Yale on ther FAQ online, "A very strong performance in a demanding college preparatory program may compensate for modest standardized test scores, but it is unlikely that high standardized test scores will persuade the admissions committee to disregard an undistinguished secondary-school record."

I don't know how rigorous your school/courseload is, but if it's tough then I'd say
BC- Reach
UPenn- Ridiculous Reach
Villanova- Match
NYU- Reach
Santa Clara-Safe Match

I'd suggest looking at some other schools. Your high SAT low GPA is attractive to large schools because they can afford to take a lower GPA kid in order to pad their stats. Normally for this type of profile I'd suggest a University of Michigan or a Case Western.
